Call Descriptions
By Style
In each issue of Scrapbook News & Review, we'll feature scrapbook pages by style and skill level. As a chance to see as many styles and genres as possible, for this call only, we will not restrict the amount of submissions per scrapbooker. In fact, we would prefer to see at least 3 to 5 layouts per scrapbooker in order to give us an idea of how well defined your style is.
We're currently looking for pages and projects of any size or subject. It must be a clearly defined style, i.e. clean and simple, modern and graphic, shabby chic, classic, freestyle, eclectic, etc. Please include the style category you feel best describes your work.
Borders, Titles & More
Almost every page has them, but we're looking for new twists on an old favorite. Show us what you do to shake things up and make your borders, titles, journaling boxes, pockets, etc extra special.
Fun with Fonts
So many fonts, so little time! Whether computer generated, dedicated scrapbook supply or hand-made, we're looking for ideas on how to step outside the box and use fonts in fun ways. Share your tips and tricks with us. Send your layouts, cards, and other crafty projects and share your tips and tricks with SNR readers.
How to Use Large Patterned Paper
We want to know how you use larger patterned paper. What tricks and techniques do you use so that you don't overwhelm your page? Where do you put the pictures? Do you tend to cut out the patterns or do you smack it down on the page? Inquiring minds wanna know!
Hybrid Pages
Paper and glue or digital? For many, the choice is clear -- it's hybrid, baby! Show our readers your stuff and show us why you like to ride the fence!
Pets
Our pet section is the most viewed section of the magazine! As planned, we’ve made the pet section an extra-special part of Scrap News. If you’d like to see your pet’s mug on our front page or have a layout you’d like to share, we wanna see them!
Shaped Papers
They're everywhere and yet many don't even know where to begin or how to use them. So we want to see your stuff. Share a tip and you'll get extra kudos!
Small Size Layouts 6"x6" and 8"x8"
At the show it was clear that small size layouts are the way to go! So many booths featured 6"x6" and 8"x8" pages that it was literally mind-blowing! So to get our readers into the mood and out of their comfort zones, we want to see your smaller sized layouts. Share tips and tricks on how you make it all "fit" in such a small space.
Through the Decades
Through the generations the pictures have been lovingly handed down. So come share us your creations. We're especially looking for layouts that aren't the status quo -- such as dark heritage pages or pink, turquoise and black for the '50's. Please specify which decade your layout represents.
